Meet Biscuit & Stuart

I am only going to get one kitten.
Famous last words.
After fourteen years together, I lost Tabitha. For six months I had told myself I wasn't going to get another cat, and for six months I came home to an empty house and hated every minute of it.
So I started looking. I had always had female cats. This time I wanted a male cat, and I already knew I was naming him Stuart.
I saw some kittens online. I saw my new Stuart immediately. I called, asked if he was still available, and drove over that same evening after work. When I arrived, four of the six kittens had already gone. Two were left. Both male.
One was a ginger tabby. Confident, curious, already very much himself. Patricia, who had
been caring for them, had named him Biscuit. He looked at me like he had been expecting me.
The other was white with a few ginger patches and a completely ginger tail. He was hiding. Shaking. Terrified of everything. I looked at him and thought: he has to come home with me as well.
The ginger tabby stayed Biscuit. The scared little white kitten with the complete ginger tail became Stuart.
They were born on 2nd April 2024. They came home with me on 6th June 2024.
The first place they hid was behind my 720 litre aquarium. There was absolutely no chance
I was moving that, so we waited.
Biscuit settled quickly. Stuart took three weeks before he trusted me enough to let me
near him. He decided when it was time. One day he just walked over and that was that.
If you met Stuart now you would never believe he was once that terrified little kitten,
shaking on a shelf, not sure the world was safe. He has since reviewed the evidence and
concluded that it is, largely, his.
Biscuit remains exactly who he was the moment I walked in. Completely himself. Completely certain.
They have been the subject of an entirely unreasonable amount of artwork ever since.
